My Voki

Voki.com enables you to create speaking characters to accompany your blog. They can be your face-double, an odd-ball character or even a talking animal, and you can pick language and accent (for example I have a French-speaking cat for my edublogs blog, if only I could work out how to embed it). They are free, good fun, and encourage your students to engage with the blog.

Keeping up to date

You can keep informed every time a new entry is added to a blog by subscribing. The most popular "feeds" to achieve this are RSS and Atom. Click on the link below to see how this works. This saves you or your students checking blogs/websites frequently. To manage a number of feeds you can use a "newsreader" or "feed aggregator", which can organise a number of feeds in folders for your convenience. Podcast feeds can be organised and accessed through iTunes or similar sites/software.

January Conference Day

On January 7th we will be looking at exciting new ways of teaching using ICT. Gail will be showing interactive presentations using hyperlinks, Daniel will be looking at podcasts and other ways of using iPods, Sean will be showing his English blog and Roy will be demonstrating a multi-media teaching tool. Next term we will have a chance to learn how to use these functions and software in learning groups.
